Charge d’Affairs, African Union Mission to the United States of America
Tarek Ben Youssef is the Chargé d’Affaires a.i of the African Union Mission to the United States. He has joined the African Union Commission as a senior political officer since October 2012. Previously, he served as deputy director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tunisia in charge of multilateral economic cooperation. At the Embassy of Tunisia in Washington, Mr. Ben Youssef served as deputy chief of mission from 2008-2011, and as counselor for congressional affairs from 2006-2008. He also served as counselor in charge of economic and development coordination at the Embassy of Tunisia in Ottawa from 1996-2002.
He holds a Masters in International Management from the National School of Public Administration in Quebec, Canada, as well as a Masters in Diplomacy from the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies in Malta.
