From his speech before the Ghanaian parliament in 2009 to the African Leaders Summit in 2015, Obama made democracy and governance the cornerstone of his U.S.-Africa policy. As the Obama administration comes to a close, CFA in collaboration with the National Democratic Institute, will examine the administration’s efforts to increase transparency, support free and fair elections, and reduce political corruption. We will also assess how the incoming administration can best contribute to the advancements in African democracy and governance.
