Roundtable I: Peace & Security

1640 Wisconsin Avenue NW

The Peace & Security Roundtable will explore forward-leaning strategies for redefining Africa’s security architecture and dealing with emerging threats. Speakers and participants will highlight some of the challenges facing Africa today at national, regional, and continental levels, such as violent internal strife, poverty and inequality, violent extremist groups, and demographic climate change. These challenges confront Africa today at the same time African economies continue to grow and violent civil and cross-border conflicts have waned. Speakers and participants will
also focus on emerging threats, including democratic transitions, trans-national crime, and ideologically-driven violence.
